Lasik
I just had my lasik surgery yesterday at paragon the lasik surgery clinic.
I was really nervous and was so afraid that I might freak out halfway. I was reading a lot abt Lasik online for the past few weeks and asking my colleagues who had lasik surgery to get myself prepared for the op.
I opted for custom intralase lasik at 2888. Had degrees of 675 n 575 with astigmatism at 75 per eye.
I waited for 2.5 hours before my surgery. There r too many patients queueing in front of me. I was nervous for my turn yet I was hoping that it's my turn soon cos the wait was too boring and tiring.
I first had numbing eyedrops. After a few minutes, I was led to the operating theatre. Laid on the operating bed and the nurse adjusted my headrest so that I won't move my head during the operation.
Doctor started by asking me to look straight at some disco light thingy. It was glaring. He then opened my eyelids wide and inserted a suction ring. It was a little uncomfortable but bearable. I dunno what to do and did everything. I blinked I squeezed I opened my eyes wide.
After doing both eyes the doctor said the flap was not good as I was squeezing my eyes. He did the entire suction thing twice! Oh my goodness. But I was damn cooperative this time and the flap was created well.
Dr Tay then say the tough part is done and now comes the easy part. He ask me to concentrate on a red blinking light and he will do the rest of the job. I saw him doing the whole procedure. How freaky is that??
He used a thin hook thingy to lift up the flap. My vision went blur and disoriented. I juz kept looking at the red light obediently. The lasering started and lasted 30 secs. Dr tay close the flap and washed my eyes and use a brush light thing to sweep the flap on my eye. I can see everything he is doing and it was absolutely feelingless!!! It was really amazing!
After 2 eyes are done I just got out of the bed and sat on a stool for the doc to chk my eyes. He said it's successful and I'm done!!
I'm so fascinated that I can see the doc features so clearly and read some words on the magazine from afar.
Dear accompanied me the whole day and drove me home after the operation. The numbing sensation starts to wear off and I felt the stinging sensation. It was getting unbearable as time goes by. By the time I reach home I can barely open my eyes. I was tearing really badly on my journey home.
Pop a sleeping bill and I tried to sleep. Stinging pain makes it very difficult to sleep and I finally slept after an hour.
Woke up at 5am and I'm so glad I can see things quite clearly. As though I'm wearing my contact lenses.
I'm overall very satisfied. I do have some side effects like dry eyes, starbursts, red left eye due to the suction ring, smokey vision and mild swollen eyes as I was tearing badly before I slept.
Went for my first review today in the afternoon and all is well.
All that is left is for me to take care of my eyes. Put eyedrops and antibiotics. Sleep well. Don't put eye lotion or makeup. Wear sunglasses. I should b recovering in a few weeks time.
Hooray. I'm felt brave that I went thru the op and so far no regrets!!
